Course Overview

This course equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills to inspect, assess, and maintain wire ropes in accordance with industry regulations, statutory requirements, and best practices.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand wire rope terminology, construction, characteristics, and applications.
  • Apply statutory requirements and industry standards for wire rope inspection.
  • Conduct thorough examinations of wire ropes in service.
  • Identify wear, corrosion, fatigue, abrasion, deformation, and other defects.
  • Apply wire rope discard criteria and determine serviceability.
  • Inspect rope terminations and assess their suitability for continued use.
  • Complete statutory examination reports and certification accurately.
  • Promote safe use, handling, and maintenance of wire ropes to improve operational safety and equipment lifespan.

Participants are assessed through both theoretical and practical evaluations.
