Helicopter Landing Officer (HLO)

Course Objectives

  • Equip participants with a thorough understanding of the role and responsibilities of a Helicopter Landing Officer in offshore and onshore environments.
  • Teach participants the essential procedures for safely managing helicopter landings and take-offs, ensuring both personnel and equipment are secure during operations.
  • Provide practical training on the proper communication techniques required between the HLO, helicopter crew, and other personnel involved in operations.
  • Familiarize participants with the specific safety protocols for dealing with emergency situations related to helicopter operations, including emergency evacuation procedures and crash response.
  • Train participants in the identification and management of hazards in and around helicopter landing zones (HLZ), including weather conditions, terrain, and operational risks.
  • Ensure participants understand the importance of maintaining a clear and safe landing area, including managing air traffic control and ground crew activities.
  • Introduce participants to safety equipment and protocols used by HLOs, including firefighting measures, first aid, and personal protective equipment (PPE) necessary for the role.
  • Provide knowledge on regulations and industry standards governing helicopter operations, ensuring compliance with local and international aviation safety standards.

Instructor led virtual Training via Microsoft Teams/Zoom/Google Meet.

Course Prerequisite

  1. Access to a smart device with a stable internet connection.
  2. Must be 18 years and above.
  3. No previous experience or qualifications required.
