The NPORS Mobile Crane Operator (MCO) course is a training program designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills needed to safely operate a mobile crane.

What you’ll learn

 

The NPORS MCO course typically covers the following topics:

  1. Health and safety regulations and guidelines related to the operation of mobile cranes.
  2. Types of mobile cranes and their components.
  3. Pre-use checks and inspections.
  4. Loading and unloading procedures, including securing loads.
  5. Safe operation of the mobile crane, including crane movements, boom extension and retraction, and stability.
  6. Emergency procedures.
  7. Hands-on practical training, which includes operating the mobile crane under the supervision of a qualified instructor.
  8.  Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as an operator.
  9. Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular machine to be used.
  10. Be able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions.
  11. Be able to locate and identify key controls and explain their functions.
  12. Set up exclusion zone.
  13. Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for mobile crane use.
  14. Conduct all pre-operational and running checks in accordance with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements.
  15. Prepare the mobile crane for use and operate machine safely and efficiently.
  16. Environmental considerations.
  17. Carry out all end of work and shut down procedures.

 

Requirements

  • You will need a copy of Adobe XD 2019 or above. A free trial can be downloaded from Adobe.
  • No previous design experience is needed.
  • No previous Adobe XD skills are needed.
