Banksman & Slinger Course Description: This course is designed to reduce the risk associated with lifting operations, by identifying their own and other’s responsibilities for inspecting, assessing, selecting, and controlling lifting operations to the legal requirements.

Banksman & Slinger Training Course Objective

At the end of this Banksman & Slinger Training, participants should be able to:

  • Understand roles and responsibilities of a Banksman and Slinger in lifting operations.
  • Identify lifting hazards and apply safe working practices to prevent accidents.
  • Demonstrate effective communication signals with crane operators and lifting teams.
  • Demonstrate competency in the safe use of lifting equipment when attaching and detaching loads in accordance with manufacturers’ guidelines.
  • Conduct pre-use inspections for different lifting gears confidently.
  • Select and use appropriate lifting accessories according to load requirements and industry standards.
  • Interpret load weights correctly in relation to industry standards.
  • Assess loads safely, ensuring correct slinging techniques and balanced lifting.
  • Coordinate lifting operations efficiently, ensuring safety and compliance at all times.
